STATEMENT OF INTENT

Dear Members:
We are currently in uncharted waters as far as playing competitive Table Tennis is concerned. That being said the BDTTA is committed to organising a League competition in some shape of form, as soon as we can. With that in mind, we would like to share with you all what our current thinking is, as far as Season 2020-21 arrangements. At the AGM a rule change was passed:- For the 2020-2021 season only, the BDTTA Committee will be allowed to change or add any rule that it deems necessary to ensure a safe and sustainable League program. This is to enable us to make adjustments to the competition, as circumstances, guidelines and safety considerations dictate. For example, TTE have directed that there will be no doubles played this coming season. Our first task will be to ascertain the availability of venues and see how that will shape both the start date, the format of the League and the duration of the season we end up with. From then on we will form a competition depending on what teams the Clubs are able to field. It will be likely that normal restrictions on players playing in different teams will be lifted in order for everyone to play as much competitive table-tennis as possible. Fees for both teams and players will be set depending on the length and type of league we run. Clubs should advise the Association regarding any updates they have on securing their club premises and the restriction which may have been imposed by the landlord. We will endeavour to keep our members informed as to any progress that we make. As things stand, it looks like the earliest target start date of the 5th October is realistic, but this may have to be reviewed. Our aim is to get our members back to playing competitive Table Tennis as soon as possible while still following all the recommend safety considerations laid out by TTE and the Government. Wishing you all good health.

Dave Turner

It will be known by many but perhaps not all that Dave Turner passed away suddenly before Christmas.

Dave was obviously a well-known figure holding many positions in the long period that he was involved in Table-Tennis both as a player and official in the local area and nationwide - he was currently Vice-Chairman and President of our Association and previously Chairman and a long-standing Committee member.

His funeral will take place at the Bournemouth Crematorium on Thursday 16th January at 2.00pm, for anyone able to attend.

Flowers for the funeral will be given by 'family' only. Friends and Organisations can give donations to the Bournemouth Heart Foundation via Derek Scott, Funeral Directors, 755 Christchurch Road, Bournemouth Bh7 6AN. Telephone 01202 309609.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the committee, for giving up their time, working together and most importantly, putting up with me in order to produce this year's fixtures.

Many Thanks.

Phil Hadley

Chairman
